Innovation Center offers trainings for congregations seeking Spirit-fueled renewal

DAYTON, Ohio, August 16, 2023 — The Bishop Bruce Ough Innovation Center at United Theological Seminary, Dayton, OH, is the resourcing platform for multiple United Methodist conferences that are rallying their congregations to engage in daily breakthrough prayer over the coming months. Participating congregations will come together in asking God for next steps, new open doors and miraculous possibilities.

“The Dynamite Prayer 28 Day Experiment this fall is something we should all get on board with,” shared Bishop Julius C. Trimble, leader of the Indiana Conference of The United Methodist Church (UMC). “We are looking forward to it here in Indiana. I dare you to trust God. I dare you to try prayer! God is going to guide our steps!”

Utilizing the best-selling guidebook Dynamite Prayer: A 28 Day Experiment, participants are introduced to the concept of breakthrough prayer, a form of Spirit-fueled prayer that invites God’s unlimited power for fresh inspiration and divine guidance forward. Co-authored by Innovation Center director Rev. Sue Nilson Kibbey and Rev. Dr. Rosario Picardo, Dynamite Prayer offers 28 days of daily devotionals based on the “dunamis” (resurrection power) of God’s Spirit, plus simple daily breakthrough prayer guides to help participants establish an ongoing breakthrough prayer habit that moves fresh hope and expectation to the center of everything.

The Innovation Center is providing training resources for conference and church leaders who are guiding others through the 28-day prayer experiment, designed for all Christian traditions. Rev. Dr. Kimberly Pope-Seiberling, New Church Development Director for the Kentucky Conference of The UMC, is excited to see congregations come together in prayer: “This fall I hope every church here in Kentucky and beyond takes on the Dynamite Prayer 28 Day Experiment.
