Presidential Search Committee Update
February 5, 2026
On behalf of the Presidential Search Committee, I am pleased to provide an update on the ongoing search for United’s next president.
In fall 2025, United Theological Seminary initiated a search to identify the leader who will assume presidential responsibilities following Rev. Dr. Kent Millard’s retirement, effective June 30, 2026. The Presidential Search Committee received applications through early December. Applicants reflected an impressive breadth of academic and leadership experience and an excitement for continuing United’s work of preparing Spirit-filled pastoral leaders.
During January 2026, the Search Committee conducted in-depth interviews with a strong group of semifinalist candidates. As a result of those conversations, we have identified a list of highly qualified finalist candidates who have been invited for on-campus interviews, to take place throughout February and March. These finalist interviews will include open forums, stakeholder meetings, and interviews with key campus groups, including administrators, faculty, and staff.
The Search Committee anticipates that by April 2026 the preferred candidate will be offered the position of President of United Theological Seminary, with the new president taking office July 1, 2026.
The Search Committee is grateful for your ongoing prayers and support during the search process and asks for God’s continued guidance in identifying United’s next generation leader.
Dr. Tom Lasley
Chair, Presidential Search Committee
