United Theological Seminary

OUR PRESIDENT

United Theological Seminary is a community that intentionally seeks God and in which God shows up. We have a prayer team that gathers twice a week, including online, to pray for the school and each other. We have weekly chapel services that we can attend in-person or online where we hear the Word and equip ourselves for God’s purposes. We have amazing gatherings of students during DMin intensive sessions and Contextual Ministry retreats where students and faculty draw closer to God in heart, mind and soul as they learn in their courses and are inspired by one another.

God is present in powerful ways through this. We have had healings occur in classrooms and even during office hours. We have seen people delivered from all manner of destructive forces. We have even seen our seminary honored as one of the fastest growing seminaries in the United States over the past two decades—now spanning over 50 denominations and 4 continents—with one of the most recognized mentoring structures built into our degree programs. And, God continues to bless us with new opportunities for partnerships through our Innovation Center which supports congregations directly as they navigate uncertain times.

These experiences are not new to United. They are our heritage. United was established over 150 years ago by Pietists, people who believed that theological education should engage the heart as much as the mind, that we should learn deeply about God as well as experience God’s presence together. Since then, the school has held fast to our founders’ vision. This is why both our faculty and staff are not only committed to their work at United, but are actively involved in ministry, including as church planters, pastors, and founders of non-profit ministries.

Come join our community if you want to see:

  • Your personal devotion to God and your studies united.
  • Your ministry challenges and your classroom assignments united.
  • Your learning from leading scholars and your being mentored as a leader in the church united.
  • Your calling to follow God into the next step of your life and your ability to think deeply about the Bible, theology, and the practice of ministry united.
  • Your desire to explore the foundational truths of our faith and your excitement to innovate something new in the church united.
  • Your ability to maintain the integrity of your own beliefs and your openness to be in respectful dialogue with those who have different views united.

We are a seminary that is United with you in God’s mission. Welcome!
