The Efficacy of Historic African American Preaching from Emancipation to Present

This focus group will explore the history, major contributors, significant events, rhetoric, and emotive proclamation that have contributed to the success of this homiletic jewel, which we believe is its own genre. The emotive celebration and Christ-centered preaching by those who appreciate the struggle of the oppressed, both Black and White, have used this style to set those who are in search of freedom for centuries. Students will be led to explore the history, unique concepts, and have them fashion their position on the validity of the liberation proclamation.
