How has United prepared you to go out and minister to the world?
"United has given me the tools to begin understanding the weightiness of the call to ministry, the good that needs to be done in the world, and the vibrant life the Holy Spirit yearns to be manifested in our lives. I have been given tools to continue journeying with God as He reveals Himself in Scripture. I have also become aware of the humility with which I should approach the Scriptures as there are so many others who have walked before me through the ages. This is so important as I seek to express God's heart in the local church and in my community. We are called to be bearers of hope, comfort, and peace. In uncertain times the ongoing ministry of Jesus is the place to be. His mind and heart are the measuring rod for our walk of faith."
Where have you seen God at work during your time at United?
"Evidence of God at work can be seen in the faculty, the curriculum, the spiritual direction, the students, and the building itself. The first time I stepped onto the campus, I experienced a peaceful and holy presence. There was a sense of purpose and a welcoming atmosphere. Coming from a religious background where theological study and education was viewed with suspicion, it was a comfort to meet men and women who clearly love God. It has been transformative to meet brothers and sisters from many nations who are part of our saintly communion. This love of God flows over into the patient passion with which they teach as well as the worshipful spirit that permeates the campus. United fosters an environment that welcomes thinkers and gently challenges our preconceptions about our faith. There is a deep respect for the ancient traditions of our faith, and these are presented as a foundation from which we can begin to explore presenting Christ to the local church and our communities."
