United’s leadership is foundational to the success of its mission, providing strategic expertise and Spirit-filled guidance to lead the seminary according to God’s will. Under their shared, faithful direction, United maintains its commitment to academic excellence and spiritual formation in a way that both honors the seminary’s rich history and looks to the future ahead.

Office of the President

Dr. Mark R. Teasdale was elected as President of United Theological Seminary in 2026. He is ordained in the Baltimore-Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church and has served local congregations for 12 years as a youth pastor, assistant pastor, and solo pastor.

Dr. Teasdale reaceived a BA from The American University, an MDiv and DMin from Wesley Theological Seminary, and a PhD from SMU. He has been a Member of Academy for Evangelism in Theological Education and American Society of Missiology since 2011, serving as Dditor of Witness: Journal of the Academy for Evangelism in Theological Education and as President of the organization from 2017-2021.

Dr. Teasdale has contributed to numerous chapters in books and articles dealing with evangelism, mission, and Methodist studies. He has published several books; his most recent is Socially Awkward Evangelism: Overcoming Fears in Sharing the Gospel, which was released in May 2026.
