This Focus Group offers a theological, ethical, historical, and philosophical examination of the ministry and writings of Dr. King. This will be done through a critical analysis of Martin Luther King’s leadership, the multiple influences and diverse factors that provided structure for his leadership style, and how his methodologies can be used by 21st Century social justice movements to dismantle systems of oppression and construct a just and equitable society. Historical and contemporary social justice movements will be analyzed through five key lenses: Social justice demand; leadership; democratic process; strategy and vision; and impact and efficacy.
