Certificate in Theology and Ministry opens doors for those entering theological education
Now enrolling for Summer 2023 term at United Theological Seminary
DAYTON, Ohio, March 16, 2023 — United Theological Seminary is pleased to announce the establishment of the Certificate in Theology and Ministry (CTM) for clergy and laity seeking a basic theological foundation for ministry as a pastor or church leader. The CTM is a great entry point for those beginning their journey through theological education, as a bachelor’s or master’s degree is not a prerequisite.
Designed to equip students for teaching, preaching, and leading in a church, the program offers focused study in Bible, Theology, Church and Mission, and Ministry. With twelve courses taught fully online over a three-year period, the CTM allows for the flexibility of schedules and distance, while still providing in-depth learning from well-trained instructors and group interaction with other students.
“The CTM provides an excellent opportunity for any student with or without previous college credit to receive a well-rounded theological education that prepares them for all levels of ministry,” says Dr. Peter Bellini, Director of Non-Degree Programs.
As an added benefit, through a partnership with Dakota Wesleyan University (DWU), students can receive college credit for CTM courses. Credits will be granted and can be applied toward DWU’s online undergraduate programs. Students can choose to complete an online associate or bachelor’s degree in either Nonprofit Administration or Organizational Leadership.
Fredel Thomas, vice-president for enrollment and marketing at DWU, commented on the partnership. “After working with United Theological Seminary for nearly two years, we at DWU have a proven track record of success in offering certificates or degree completion plans. DWU has found that the added benefit of a degree opens many doors for a pastor, and this is a great way to get started,” she stated.
United is currently accepting applications for the Summer 2023 term, which begins on May 15. The deadline to apply is May 5. Learn more and apply at united.edu/certificate-in-theology-and-ministry.
