United Theological Seminary prepares people for service and leadership in the church. According to a 2010 alumni/ae survey, 90 percent of our alumni/ae are very happy with their educational experience at United, and more than 90 percent would recommend United to a prospective student. United’s dedication to providing an educational experience that values the local church and prepares people for pastoral ministry is recognized by judicatories and borne out in levels of ordination and service in local churches.
90 percent of our United Methodist M.Div. graduates are currently ordained or in the UMC process towards full ordination.
92 percent of our graduates have worked professionally in a local church during their ministry.
70 percent currently serve local churches.
15 percent are either working in denominational offices or chaplaincy positions.
These high rates of ordination and longevity in ministry continue to confirm the findings of Rolf Memming in his study of longitudinal trends in ministry in which he found United Theological Seminary to be one of the nation’s leaders in preparing life-long pastors for the church.
