Chapel and Common Meal
The United community gathers regularly for Chapel, Common Meal, fellowship and community
announcements.  Common Meal symbolizes and reflects the ways in which members of the Christian community commit to care for one another in all aspects of life. During the BC-12 modules, Common Meal is scheduled at lunchtime immediately following Chapel on Wednesdays and dinnertime on Monday evenings with Chapel following later in the evening.  West Virginia and weekend students have a Friday evening meal, and on Saturday, a late morning Chapel with lunch to follow. Chapel and Common Meal are requirements of all M. Div and M. A. students as they provide opportunities for worship, fellowship and sharing with fellow students, faculty, staff and other members of the United community.  Students are charged in advance each semester for required meals, unless excused by the Academic Dean.  Special community meals may be planned at other times of the year.

Thursday Community Meal:
Supportive of our mission to renew the church for the mission of Jesus Christ in the world, this program allows us to affirm our faith and the work of the Spirit in us and through us. The Thursday programs are designed to provide an opportunity for enjoyable fellowship and prayer, while engaging students, staff and faculty in informal conversations about practical topics that apply to everyone. This is an opportunity to:

  • ·Pray and engage in fellowship together
  • ·Feature a compelling topic each week that is communicated in advance
  • ·Conduct discussions led by students, staff and faculty
  • ·Serve an array of delicious soups and salads at no charge for those who attend
