The Womanist Scholar will develop a leadership curriculum to deconstruct the triple jeopardy of institutionalized racism, sexism, and classism. The voice of the Womanist is a voice that critiques the present Graeco-Roman Christian theological paradigm, because it does not provide a systematic theological voice for the human condition and sacred experiences of the Black woman. Womanist theology provides a paradigm that allows for more comprehensive theological reflections and expressions of the Black woman’s experiences which includes female slave narratives, imaginative literature by Black women in academic disciplines, autobiographies, traditional Black folklore, and testimonies of Black church women to be legitimate. The Womanist leadership cohort will serve to build a community of scholars where leaders bring their experience into conversation with the faculty mentor guiding the process of action-reflection with theoretical inquiry.
