President Wendy Deichmann is pleased to announce that the University Senate of The United Methodist Church voted June 24th to remove its Public Warning and to rescind its Embargo of Ministerial Education funds, both imposed in January. United had appealed the Senate’s action in April in advance of the Senate’s June meeting. “This is good news for United, good news for the Church and a sign of hope for renewal of The United Methodist Church,” Deichmann stated. She expressed gratitude for all the prayers and support United has received during the appeal process. “It is good to have this behind us so we can focus all our efforts once again on our mission: to recruit and educate faithful leaders for the mission of Jesus Christ in the world.”
According to General Secretary Jerome Del Pino, United should expect to receive the withheld funds before the end of June.

Founded in 1871, United Theological Seminary will celebrate its 140th year of service to the Church starting in July. The seminary is currently growing rapidly in response to its emphasis on church renewal, its increasing number of online offerings, its high caliber faculty and its reputation for graduating excellent pastors and church leaders.
