May 2009 Graduates

DAYTON, OH __ On Saturday, May 30, United Theological Seminary held its 2009 Spring Commencement service at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Trotwood. A total of 19 masters degrees, 12 doctoral degrees and two certificates were conferred. The speaker for the service was Dr. Jeffrey Greenway, pastor of Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church in Reynoldsburg, OH.

Student awards presented during the ceremony included: The William and Carolyn Anderson Applied Theology Award,  Robert Loper; The Irvin W. Batdorf Award for Exegetical Preaching,   Kelly Mathis; The Robert E. and Mary Elizabeth Cramer Award for Academic Achievement in the Middler Year,  Adam Wirrig; The Robert M. Daugherty Award for Exceptional Promise for Pastoral Ministry, Stephanie Ransom Upshaw; The Harry L. Eckels Award for  Stewardship of Time, Talent, and Financial Planning, Anthony Herrington; The Fellowship Seminarian Award for Leadership in Music, Darrin Harvey and William VerDuin; The Hoyt Hickman Award for Liturgical Scholarship and Practice, Gregory Alan Brown II; The Bishop Hermann Kaebnick Scholarship for  Outstanding Ability in Homiletical Preparation and Delivery, Patrick Ferrell; The Missionary Interpretation Award, Steven Muyah; The Corda E. Smith Memorial Award for Excellence in the Study of the New Testament in Greek,  Justin Williams; The August Thomas Memorial Award for Demonstrated Promise in Church Administration,  Richard Riggs; The Bishop Joseph H. Yeakel Award for Demonstrated Promise in Social Justice Ministries, Myong Sun Lee Jin.
