Dr. Craig Evans Will Lecture April 14
"Jesus Outside the Bible" is the theme for the 2010 J. Arthur Heck Lectures and Spring Convocation. The first topic speaks to the two most talked about extra-canonical Gospels, the many sayings attributed to Jesus in Thomas, and the amazing account of the resurrection in the so-called Gospel of Peter. Some scholars contend that both Gospels contain material that is early, even independent of what we have in the New Testament Gospels. I will raise many questions about these claims.
The second topic will look at the witness to Jesus in Josephus and some of the early Greco-Roman writers, as well as a recent archaeological find (the so-called Jesus Cup).

Our lecturer is Dr. Craig Evans, Payzant Distinguished Professor of New Testament at Acadia Divinity College of Acadia University, in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Canada.

craigevanssmA graduate of Claremont McKenna College, Evans received his M.Div. from Western Baptist Seminary in Portland, OR, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Biblical Studies from Claremont Graduate University in southern California. A well-known evangelical scholar throughout the world, he is an elected member of the prestigious SNTS, a society dedicated to New Testament studies.

Evans is the author of more than sixty books and hundreds of articles and reviews and is a sought-after lecturer. For more information please visit Craig Evans.
