The Autobiography of Gladys Ward, Missionary is the story of Gladys Ward (1901-1999), daughter of United Brethren missionaries Edwin B. and Elizabeth Ward. Gladys Ward studied at Coe College (Iowa) and the University of Arizona, and became a field worker with the Women’s Missionary Association. From 1926 until 1987 she lived and worked in China, the Philippines, and Hong Kong. Gladys Ward wrote her memoirs in 1985. They were presented to the Center for the Evangelical United Brethren Heritage as part of Historical Collection 78: The Gladys Ward Papers. (Please see the Finding Aid below for additional details.) The Autobiography of Gladys Ward, Missionary was digitized for United Theological Seminary by Charles Browne and Barbara Bean Browne in 2008.

The Harry Neitz Sermons include sermon outlines, full-text sermons, and sermon notes without outlines written by Rev. Neitz during his ministry. The documents are handwritten in the English language, but the collection contains twelve German language sermons as well. Harry was the son of Solomon Neitz, a famous Evangelical preacher who was considered "the most eloquent orator" of the German language in America during his lifetime. Two of the sermons are ascribed to the Rev. Solomon Neitz. The sermons in the collection were preached on multiple dates and at multiple locations, presumably by Harry, according to notations on the documents.
These sermons were given to the Rev. W.E. Pottieger (see related collection HC-88) during his pastorate in Millersburg, PA, at Grace Evangelical United Brethren Church. When Rev. Pottieger received them, they were in the possession of descendants of the Rev. Neitz. Dr. Cecil P. E. Pottieger, Rev. Pottieger's son, donated HC-28 to the Center for the Evangelical United Brethren Heritage in 1980.
The collection occupies 2 boxes (1 linear foot of shelf space) and consists of two series: Neitz Sermons and Index. The index was prepared by United staff members while processing the collection 2007-2008. Wheeler Hall provided United images of the handwritten sermons. View a sample of the collection here:
